Medical Examinations for Adjustment of Status
If you’re applying for a green card, you understand there are multiple steps to the process. One of the most important is completing a medical examination by a doctor who is designated by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), also known as a civil surgeon.
You will need to bring form I-693, your government-issued photo ID or English-translated birth certificate, immunization record, medical insurance card, and payment to the exam. It is imperative to check with the doctor’s office beforehand to find out their accepted forms of payment.
During the exam, you will be tested for communicable diseases, including tuberculosis and syphilis. The doctor will also check your records to see if you need any vaccinations.
